In January I entered the Toastmasters International Speech Contest (a global competition drawing more than 30,000 participants) and, after 5 competitions, I am blessed to still be in the hunt. This past Saturday night I had the privilege of competing for the Georgia title with five speakers… all compelling, captivating and with a thought-provoking and inspiring message.
My message, “A Teacher Effects Eternity”, pays tribute to my high school piano teacher, Nancy Claxton and the life lessons she instilled in me as she invested in my life. I will forever be grateful for the time I had with her.
I was honored to receive 1st place and will compete at the semi-finals in August, and hopefully, the finals two days later in Cincinnati, Ohio.
I would appreciate your prayers as I prepare!
