I returned yesterday from the She Speaks Conference hosted by Proverbs 31 Ministries in Concord, North Carolina. What a fabulous time of growth, of deepening old friendships and making new ones!
A highlight for me was the stirring message from Micca Campbell. She told the story of a season when she needed encouragement. She battled a prolonged, mystery illness that threatened to steal her joy, energy and ability to continue in her demanding speaking ministry. She had passed the point of asking God for help and was now telling God what to do. (Ever been there? Me, too.)
“God, I need you to do something for me”, she moaned wearily, trudging through the airport.
Moments later, Micca relayed, she took a seat at the gate and looked up to see none other than Beth Moore sitting across from her! She introduced herself, thanking Beth for her ministry. Too quickly it seemed, it was boarding time. Micca arrived at her bulkhead seat to find a frail, elderly man occupying her place. He needed assistance, the attendant explained, and would Micca mind trading seats?
You know where this is going! Her new seat assignment was next to Beth Moore, providing Micca a personal visit with one of the leading biblical authors and encouragers of our time. Talk about a B-12 shot! Micca chuckled to herself as she could almost hear God whispering, “Well, how’d I do?” “More than I could ask or imagine!” she silently replied.
Hearing Micca’s story, I was reminded that God doesn’t always change our situations, rather giving grace to endure. In that, we trust His goodness. Oh, but sometimes, He shows off!… Let’s always remember that He loves us, sees us, is with us and can rearrange our circumstances (if He chooses) in a heartbeat, giving us a glimpse of His glory.
“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, acording to the power that is at work within us, to Him be glory…for ever and ever!” Ephesians 3:20-21
Thank you for encouraging me, Micca!
